Sam Ovraiti is an adventurous artist who constantly challenges himself to experiment with new materials, styles and subjects. He is also a dedicated teacher who is known for telling his students, "Don't keep planning, paint!" This image of a Fulani man wearing one of his people's distinctive brimmed hats illustrates Ovraiti's great skill as a watercolorist. Ovraiti currently lives and works in Lagos where he serves as director of the Harmattan Workshop, which provides community art workshops and encourages collaborations between artists of different backgrounds.
