LabelJordi Boldo came of age as the first generations of Mexican abstract artists were struggling to gain recognition and acceptance both at home and abroad. He is best known for large, heavily textured canvases filled with bold colors and dynamic shapes. The composition of this painting, with a luminous yellow rectangle poised as if to balance on the tip of a thick white spike, has a strong sculptural quality. Boldo teaches art at the Autonomous University of Querétaro in central Mexico. Querétaro is a sister city to Holland, Michigan and Boldo visited Hope College as part of an international exchange program in 1999.
