Xue Song is a native of Shanghai whose work reflects the dynamic energy of China’s most cosmopolitan city. After his studio burned down in the early 1990s, Xue began creating collages using the burned remnants. Those collages have in turn inspired paintings and prints that use fragments of texts and images from the past to create images with contemporary relevance. This print depicts Shanghai’s impressive skyline, which has become a symbol of China’s national pride and re-emergence as a global superpower.
