Jennifer Bartlett’s work often straddles the line between representation and abstraction. This print belongs to a large series of 200 paintings, drawings and prints that were inspired by Bartlett’s year-long stay at a villa in Nice, France. The villa property included a small garden with a lawn, a pool and a stone sculpture surrounded by rows of cypress trees. After returning home to New York, Bartlett worked obsessively for three years creating images of the garden that reflect different perspectives and that convey different textures and moods.
