Label
Takita Koichi has said that he tries to follow precepts outlined by the 20th century philosopher Yanagi Soetsu: to be modest in creation, to be reserved in pattern, to have no intimidation in form, and to avoid ornate color tones. He wants his ceramics to be functional and practical, while also being pleasing to the eye and the spirit. This small box is decorated on the front and back sides but not on the ends. The lid is painted with a stylized deer motif that is simple yet animated.
