Because woodblock prints were relatively easy and inexpensive to produce, they were an affordable alternative to paintings for many Mongolian Buddhist monks and lay people. This print portrays Bhaishajyaguru sitting on an elevated throne in a lush garden surrounded by the other seven Medicine Buddhas. A table set with offerings of flowers and fruits is positioned in front of the buddhas, who are flanked by the bodhisattvas Suryaprabha and Candraprabha.
