This print belongs to a suite titled Six Contes Fantastiques that Picasso created in 1944 to illustrate a collection of magical tales by the French author Maurice Toesca (1904-1998).  The Cubist-influenced image seems to reference both Ancient Mediterranean and African sculpture, and demonstrates Picasso's extraordinary skill as a draftsman.  Although Picasso designed the print in 1944, the turmoil of World War Two prevented it from being published until 1953.
