LabelStanley William Hayter was an innovative printmaker and painter who was especially associated with the Surrealist and Abstract Expressionist art movements. Influences from both of those movements are evident in this 1954 image of an artist observing a female nude in his studio. Hayter experimented with different ways of inking the plate during the printing process, resulting in multiple variations of the print featuring different color combinations.
