Dr. Lakra is the pseudonym of Jerónimo López Ramirez, a former tattoo artist who creates paintings, drawings, collages and sculptures using imagery and materials appropriated from popular culture. Often darkly humorous, Dr. Lakra’s work explores the social and cultural structures that underlie many myths, fetishes and taboos. This print was inspired by traditional tattoo parlor “flash sheets” that were used to attract prospective customers and help them choose a design.
