Many girls in Baluchistan grow up watching their mothers and female relatives weave, and they may start weaving themselves as early as age seven or eight. Often a girl will first learn to weave by working on a section of a textile that has been started by her mother. This horse necklace reveals evidence of just such a weaving process, with some sections showing a confident, experienced hand and other sections showing a less polished technique. [Caleigh White '2020]
