Label
Flat rugs have historically been more common in the southern regions of Baluchistan where the borders of Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan meet. Because they are easier to weave and to clean than pile rugs, flat rugs are typically used for everyday activities. The long, narrow shape of this rug reflects the limited size of the traditional Baluchi ground loom. To make wider flat rugs, two or more narrow rugs are sewn together along their side edges.
