This panel comes from the front of a traditional Baluch woman’s dress. The dense silk embroidery marks this as a special piece that was probably worn on more formal or ceremonial occasions. Economic use of resources is very important in the nomadic and semi-nomadic cultures of Baluchistan, so when the original dress for which this embroidery was made wore out, the embroidery was saved so that it could be incorporated into a new garment in the future.
